On September 19 Urayasu City celebrated the first Urayasu Festival. Around sunset on a comfortable summer evening, a great parade made its way down Symbol Road in Shin-Urayasu. It seemed to have everything: cheerleaders, hula dancers, Disney characters, sizzling samba dancers and spirited Yosokoi troupes. The climax featured Nebuta (giant lantern floats) that came from several prefectures around Japan. These stunningly beautiful images lighting up the landscape to the crackling bursts of fireworks brought the evening to an exciting end. Let’s do it again next year!
